NEWS:

The Heldman Library and Learning Resources Center at West L.A. College was first dedicated in 1981, and recently received a $1.5 million dollar make-over to incorporate state-of-the-art technology upgrades: High-Speed Library Internet Research Lab; Laptop checkout; improved self and group study areas with a variety of Learning Activities including English Skills, Language lab, Math Skills, PLATO Lab, Writing Lab and Distant Learning Lab.

Construction on the library facility was accomplished in 92 days while maintaining full use of the library services.  Four additional projects from the college’s $180 million master plan will commence this summer.
“West is no longer the best kept secret on the Westside," President Rocha has said.

BACKGROUND:
The Los Angeles Community College District’s construction and modernization projects  receive funding from Propositions A/AA, two bond measures overwhelmingly approved by Los Angeles voters in 2001 and 2003.  Propositions A/AA are providing more than $2.2 billion for new construction and renovations at LACCD's nine colleges.  For more information, visit the construction program’s website at www.PropositionA.org.
