NEWS:

On January 31, Los Angeles Valley College will mark yet another milestone in its construction program celebrating the official "topping off" of their new $46 million Allied Health and Science Center.

The "green" building has three-stories and 98,000 square feet of space for computer and teaching labs as well as classrooms that will serve the Health Science, Biological Science, Chemistry/Physics and Earth Science/Anthropology departments.

The Center will include state-of-the-art environmentally friendly features to help save money on energy costs. Additionally, plans include a rooftop photovoltaic (solar energy) system, which will generate 10 percent of the building's electricity. The building, which uses recycled building materials and drought-tolerant landscaping, is scheduled to be completed in April 2008.

The Allied Health and Science Center is the first instructional building built with the college's share of the district's $2.2 billion Proposition A/AA Bonds which were approved by voters in 2001 and 2003 respectively.
